Blizzard Pays Homage to Themselves in Starcraft 2.

Well it has finally arrived, Starcraft 2 has finally hit stores and Blizzards pockets are just another few miles deeper. For those of us who went to the midnight launches that were happening almost anywhere that sold the game were treated to quite the smooth connection to battlenet last night. So far there hasn’t been any huge outages or major bugs found. If you were anything like myself and jumped straight into the campaign to see what it was all about, you may have found some of the little tidbit throwbacks Blizzard threw in there for their hardcore fans.

Most of them are very apparent in the cantina area you unlock after you meet up with Captain Matt Horner on the Bridge of his ship.

You’ll notice from this picture that there are a few little things that Blizzard has thrown in here. First off in the upper left corner you see a hologram of a girl doing the Night Elf dance from World of Warcraft. The television screen there is playing a mock iPod Commercial for a device called the iPistol and it depicts a marine dancing with a white silhouette of a gun. Another commercial that loops on the same screen lists songs you can buy on a CD that make references to the Horde and Alliance. There is also an Arcade machine on the left with a game called “Lost Vikings“. Anyone who has done their homework on old blizzard game will know that “The Lost Vikings” was the name of a game that Blizzard Released back in 1992. The Arcade is not actually the original game but, a super fun minigame in the style of Galaga.

If for some reason you don’t find the actual game compelling enough, you may find yourself stuck on playing this for good chunk of the day. there is an achievement you can unlock from beating it as well. Let us know if you have found any other throw backs or secrets we haven’t yet.
