Games you should have played… But probably didn’t.
I thought i would post some games here today that I myself really enjoy but, not many have ethier heard of them or played it for themselves.
Platform: Playstation
Why it’s worth a look: This is a great Party game. Up to 8 people can play at a time and is very board game like. You spin a pencil in the same fasion as you would dice and move to different spaces along the board. When you land in a space you can choose to open up a store in that space and stock it with high priced or low priced goods. When someone lands on your store they have to buy something making you money. You can also buy multible spaces in the same part of the mall and expand your store allowing for more expensive items and more storage space to hold them. The object of the game is the first to reach a set number of gross income wins. I know when you read this it may sound lame but, let me tell you it is a load of fun. there are many twists that can happen throughout the game as well that can completely change the rules or change the current standings to the complete opposite.
Platform: Xbox, PS2 and PC
Why it’s worth a look: I really don’t know why this game wasn’t very popular. You take control of the main character Raz as he and his friends go through his adventures in some kind of camp where everyone has psychokinetic powers. I just love how open this game is, it feels very free of almost any restriction. you can do what you want, where you want, when you want to do it.
The art style is VERY unique. Almost like a Tim Burton movie. The game play its self is very cool, you have a wide variety of psychic powers to aide you in adventure as well as some very quarky characters. All in all if you have not played it I would highly reccommend this one of a kind game.
BREAKDOWN
Platform: Xbox
Hailed as one of the only first person shooter games to come out of Japan, Breakdown brought new ideas never before seen in a first person title before. I mean what other game can you eat a burger and puke in first person? I found Breakdown to be in a certain way more realistic that most fps title I had played in the past. Not in the sense of the story line but, in the the way you interact with items. If you needed to push a button your hand would reach out and push it. If you picked up some ammo your arm would swipe down and grab it. You could even do a round house kick and back flips while in first person. You may think it would be disorienting, but it really wasn’t.
Now the storyline in this game is nothing short of FUCKED UP. Not bad but, certainly fucked. Even if talking blood stains and ghost cats aren’t your thing, it is still an action packed thrill ride. I still see this game around in my local EB games and gamstops retailing for about $9.99 Canadian If you are lucky enough to spot this jem it is definatly worth it.

Psyconauts is the only game on this list i’ve played (or heard of for that matter). And while i enjoyed it i find myself wanting to play Breakdown now just because of the puking up of burgers and talking bloodstains, lol.
The first thing that came to my mind when I read “talking blood stains” was D’s hand in Vampire Hunter D… I dunno why. Once an otaku, always an otaku i suppose.

Breakdown is probably the most enjoyable 1-player game I have ever played. The first bit is cool because of the first-person interactions, but that wears off quick and I found the game boring and just plain bad for the first half or so. But this game really turns around later on. The storyline starts out being shitty, but by the end I was convinced it was one of the best (or at least one of the best presented) storylines ever. The atmosphere is really cool since everything is first person, and there are sweet new abilities gained throughout the game, keeping it interesting. Great game, but it starts off crappy.

From what little of Psyconaughts I’ve played it is a good game, especially for it’s time. If you really want to talk about good games that nobody plays you should really look in the point-click adventure area. Such games as Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, Syberia, Still Life, Grim Fandango, Monkey Island. Even for some titles 10 years shows no signs of aging, these are still great games. Some of the greatest stories I’ve heard of are from games like Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, simply stunning to say the least.
